Masonry Specialist – Outdoor Living & Hardscapes

Location: Roanoke, VA area

We are growing and looking for a skilled Masonry Specialist with strong experience in outdoor projects to join our team.


Position Overview

The Masonry Specialist will focus primarily on outdoor living and hardscaping projects including patios, walkways, retaining walls, steps, fire pits, and structural masonry repairs. Experience with chimney repair and rebuilds is a plus but not required.

This role is ideal for someone who not only builds well but understands how to plan and scope projects accurately.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install patios (paver, natural stone, concrete)

  • Build and repair retaining walls, steps, and walkways

  • Construct outdoor fireplaces and fire pits

  • Perform masonry repairs including tuckpointing and brick replacement

  • Read and interpret project layouts and plans

  • Ensure proper grading, drainage, and base preparation

  • Operate masonry and landscaping equipment safely

  • Maintain clean and organized job sites

  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors

  • Follow OSHA and company safety standards

Plus Skills (Preferred but Not Required):

  • Assist with customer consultations

  • Help develop accurate scopes of work

  • Provide input on project planning and material takeoffs

  • Support preparation of customer estimates

  • Review plans and offer practical construction solutions 

  • Chimney repair experience (crowns, caps, flashing, brick repair, rebuilds) is a plus but not required.


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of masonry or hardscaping experience

  • Strong knowledge of outdoor construction techniques

  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs and perform physically demanding work

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record preferred

Sales & Service Technician

Location: Roanoke, VA Area


We are seeking a skilled Sales & Service Technician who can diagnose issues, make professional recommendations, prepare estimates, and help homeowners confidently move forward with needed repairs.


Position Overview

This role combines technical expertise, masonry knowledge, and customer communication. You will inspect and diagnose chimney, fireplace, and masonry systems, educate homeowners, develop scopes of work, prepare estimates, and perform or coordinate repairs.

The ideal candidate understands that safety comes first—and that trust and professionalism drive results.


Key Responsibilities

Inspection & Diagnosis

  • Perform Level 1 & Level 2 chimney inspections

  • Conduct interior and exterior chimney and masonry evaluations

  • Identify safety hazards, structural concerns, and water intrusion issues

  • Diagnose masonry deterioration including brick damage, mortar failure, and settlement issues

  • Use video inspection equipment when necessary

  • Document findings with photos and detailed notes

Recommendations & Estimating

  • Clearly explain findings and safety concerns to homeowners

  • Provide repair recommendations for chimney, fireplace, and masonry issues

  • Develop detailed scopes of work

  • Prepare accurate estimates

  • Present pricing and available financing options

  • Close work professionally and ethically

Repairs & Projects

Perform or assist with repairs including:

Chimney & Fireplace Repairs

  • Crown repairs and rebuilds

  • Cap, chase cover, and damper installations

  • Flashing repairs

  • Tuckpointing and brick replacement

  • Smoke chamber repairs and parging

  • Firebox repairs

  • Flue liner repairs or resurfacing

Masonry Repairs & Projects

  • Brick and mortar repair

  • Tuckpointing and repointing

  • Structural masonry repairs

  • Step, wall, and entry repairs

  • Small-to-medium masonry rebuilds

  • Outdoor masonry features (fire pits, retaining walls, etc.)

  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites

  • Follow OSHA and company safety standards


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of chimney, fireplace, or masonry experience preferred

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with masonry repairs and structural brickwork

  • Comfortable speaking with homeowners and explaining technical issues

  • Experience preparing estimates or willingness to learn

  • Sales ability and confidence presenting repair solutions

  • Strong documentation and communication skills

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

  • Ability to lift 75+ lbs and work on roofs and ladders

CSIA certification is a plus but not required.

Position Overview

The General Laborer / Apprentice supports lead technicians and masons on chimney, fireplace, and masonry projects. This role is hands-on and physically active, offering the opportunity to learn valuable trade skills in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

You will gain experience in:

  • Chimney inspections and repairs

  • Masonry and brickwork

  • Outdoor hardscaping projects

  • Jobsite safety and professional customer interaction


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist technicians and masons with repairs and installations

  • Carry and prepare materials

  • Mix mortar and prepare work areas

  • Set up and break down ladders and scaffolding

  • Maintain clean and organized job sites

  • Follow safety procedures at all times

  • Learn proper tools, materials, and repair techniques

  • Support documentation and photo reporting as needed

As skills develop, opportunities for advancement include:
